Our recently completed modernist home renovation in St Albans, Fairmead House, has been featured on Leibal, one of the most celebrated international platforms dedicated to minimalist architecture and design.

The article focuses on the project’s emphasis on spatial clarity, material quality, and formal exploration, and reflects on how the interior architecture relates to its surrounding landscape.

Fairmead House – Living Area

“Rather than demolition or extensive addition, the project operates through strategic erasure and material precision, interrogating what latent potential remains within constrained footprints.”

Fairmead House explores how architecture can support everyday life quietly and without excess. Its richness lies not in statement or scale, but in tone, texture, and the careful sequencing of space. The project reflects a balance between city and nature, past and present, precision and feeling.

The house acts as a case study for Apricot Square’s interest in an alternative pathway to high-end residential design, demonstrating how simplicity and intuitive design decisions can elevate everyday experience through a dialogue between architecture, environment, and contemporary life.

With thanks to Leo Lei for the words. As an emerging London-based architecture studio, it is an honour for Apr to be published on Leibal – the 'evolving archive of the world’s most refined minimalist design.'
