Apricot Square is a London-based architecture studio. But architecture is only part of what shapes our work. From built spaces to passing thoughts, we’re interested in how everyday experience can be enriched. We return, again and again, to a simple question: how can design shift the way we see the world around us?

This journal is one way of exploring that question. A space for shifting reflections, references, and observations – some tied to ongoing work at Apr, others more open-ended. Less formal than our project pages but still part of the same process. A working notebook – to share what’s inspiring the studio, and what might inspire others.

The studio is grounded in a multidisciplinary way of working. Sometimes that means designing a house extension, sometimes an art installation. Other times, it’s a sentence in a book, a song, or the texture of a garment that sparks a moment of creativity. We’re interested in how disciplines cross-pollinate, and how they unfold new ways of thinking, making, and noticing.

This open approach keeps our work culturally attuned. In a built environment often shaped by urgency and surface, we look for something more lasting: a design approach that values thoughtful material choices, emotional depth, and craft. A sensibility that resists trends in favour of experience. Architecture, at its best, reframes spaces for connection, care, and creation.

The journal will feature a mix of content: studio updates, behind-the-scenes notes, and shifts in thinking. A recurring series called Learning From, where we look at people whose work expands how we see the world. There will also be notes on our approach to process and collaboration, and how we work with clients.

It’s an informal space, but one we care about, shaped by the same spirit as our built work: open-ended and engaged. A place to stay curious, stay inspired, and develop a more attentive way of making.

We’ve also started a newsletter to keep you updated on new entries, if you’d like to sign up.
